Great War Centenary Association - Brantford, Brant County, Six Nations - First World War - Lecture Series

2015 GWCA 3rd Annual Lecture Series Calendar

Since February 2013, one of our signature events has been the Great War Lecture series at the Brantford Campus of Wilfrid Laurier University. The series has traditionally combined avocational and professional historians and has explored a variety of themes, local and international in scope.

Previous lectures have examined topics such as the conscription crisis in Canada, the fate of the 4th battalion, Six Nations cadets and sport in the Canadian Expeditionary Force.

This year’s lineup continues the trend with talks on international subjects such as the war in East Africa and more locally themed lectures on Katherine Maud Macdonald, Canada’s first nursing sister fatality, and Harvey Watt Cockshutt, scion of the well-known farm implements family.
