GWCA Presents: Mary Chaktsiris – March 1 @ 7:30 p.m.

Mary Chaktsiris’ research explores the complicated relationships between war and society with a focus on the First World War, masculinity, internment, memory, urban space (Toronto), Canada, and empire. Currently, her research explores experiences of Canadian First World War veterans in the decades after the Great War.  Mary’s doctoral research explored the City of Toronto during the First World War through an examination of war posters and imagery, conscription and recruitment activities, the Toronto's Soldier's Insurance Program, the internment of enemy aliens, and the 1918 Toronto riots.
