Paris Ontario Cenotaph

Open House Regarding the Paris Cenotaph

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 29 (Paris) along with the County of Brant will be holding an Open House. The purpose of the Open House is to gather input from the public regarding the names of the Paris Veterans who were killed or died while in service during WWI and WWII. The names will be added to the new stone(s) at the Paris Cenotaph.

Public input is being sought to confirm names of the War dead who were never added to the Brant County War Memorial and the correction of some names that were misspelled. The Great War Centenary Association has extensively researched the veterans who were killed or died while in service and has a list of additional veterans’ names, including corrected spelling of names, which they recommend being added to the Paris Cenotaph. Public input is being sought to clarify any errors which may have happened in the past. There will also be an opportunity for the public to have input in the final design of the stones that will be added to the Paris Cenotaph.

The meeting will be held on January 30, 2018 in the Council Chambers located at 7 Broadway Street West in Paris from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The Open House portion will begin at 6:00 pm with a concept drawing of the Paris Cenotaph including the addition of the proposed new stones. Members of the GWCA will offer a presentation at 7:00 pm followed by a question and answer period.

Any donations to help support the project are tax deductible and a tax receipt will be issued by
the County. Donations can be made at any County of Brant Service Offices.
