Daniel Sweeney

A resident of Brantford for some 30 years, and a well known member of the Canadian Legion, Daniel Sweeney passed away in Toronto yesterday.  He was for many years an employee of Waterous Limited.  He enlisted and went overseas with the 125th Battalion.  Left to mourn his loss are his widow; three sons, Dennis and John Sweeney, in the United States and one brother, Thomas Sweeney, in England.  The funeral will be conducted Wednesday afternoon from Thorpe Brothers’ Funeral Home, with interment in the Soldiers’ Plot in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Daniel Sweeney

The funeral of Daniel Sweeney was conducted Wednesday afternoon from Thorpe Brothers’ Funeral Home.  Rev. F.W. Schaffter, Rector of St. Jude’s Anglican Church, conducted the services.  The funeral was very largely attended by returned soldiers.  The deceased was buried with military honors in the Soldiers’ Plot in Mount Hope Cemetery, Bugler H. Porter sounding the “Last Post.”  The pallbearers were six members of the Brantford Branch of the Canadian Legion: S. McTice, T. Webb, W. Welch, E. Storey, D. Campbell and H. Blanchard.
