Brown, Gordon – Suddenly at the Brantford General Hospital on Monday, January 27, 1992, in his 95th year, beloved husband of the late Lorna (nee Selby); the father of Kathleen Saunders (Brantford), Constance Duncan, Stephen and Philip of Hamilton, Stanley of North Bay, Mrs. Raymond (Thelma) Johnson of Ancaster, Mrs. Elliott (Marilyn) Egbuson of Lagos, Nigeria; Mrs. Don (Carol) Littlejohn Chessman of Edmonton, Alberta; predeceased by one son, William; brothers Frank and Andrew and one sister, Evelyn Morey; loving Grandy to 38 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren. He leaves nieces Marguerite Berry and Evelyn McBride and a nephew, Kenny Brown and many cousins.
Gordon was a veteran of the First World War and served at Vimy Ridge; was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 90 and a life member of the Masonic Lodge, Mount Olive #1 Hamilton; life member of Lorne Tower Senior Citizens. The family will receive their friends at the Thorpe Brothers’ Funeral Home, 96 West Street from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Service in the chapel on Monday at 1 p.m., with Reverend Francis Chisholm and Reverend Robert Foster of Hamilton officiating. Interment, Mount Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Brant County War Memorial Building Fund, 2 Brunswick Street, Brantford or a charity of your choice. Lodge of Sorrow Masonic Service, Saturday at 2 p.m. Legion Service, Sunday at 7 p.m.
