As the years passed and the conflict continued, the War began to affect all facets of life for the people of Brantford, Brant County and Six Nations. As the initial surge in enthusiasm for the war began to fade, new ways of spurring recruitment were required.  But the war also infiltrated other areas of everyday life. Ads in the local newspapers took on a new feel as even the most non-martial products were associated to the war effort. At the same time, new roles were opening up, even if only temporarily for women.
