Reported Wounded

Mrs. Jane Barnes, Baldwin Avenue, received official word today that Sapper Alfred George Barnes was officially reported admitted to the Military Hospital Purfleet, on August 5 with contusing of the hip. He was an employee of the Massey-Harris Company here and was 32 when he enlisted with the first overseas battalion of the Dufferin Rifles, which he left in a draft.

Alfred George Barnes

The death of Alfred George Barnes of Brantford Township, took place on Tuesday afternoon in his 48th year.  The funeral will take place on Thursday from the residence of his sister, Mrs. E. Cornford, 30 Baldwin Avenue, to Mount Hope Cemetery.  He leaves to mourn his loss three sisters, Mrs. E. Cornford and Mrs. A. Beales of this city and Mrs. J. Habbershaw of Brantford Township, and one brother, John of London.

The funeral of the late A.G. Barnes was conducted yesterday afternoon from the home of his sister, Mrs. E. Cornford, 30 Baldwin Avenue, with interment in Mount Hope cemetery.  Rev. C.H.P. Owen rector of Trinity church officiated.  The pallbearers were J. Habbershaw, Robert Biggs, A. Beales, E. Cornford, Arthur Beales and C. Habbershaw.
