Alfred Gibbons

Alfred Gibbons, 71 of 181 Grand River Street, Paris, died Wednesday at the Willett Hospital, Paris.  Born in England, he had lived in Paris for the past 52 years.  Mr. Gibbons was formerly employed at Penman’s Limited.  He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, a life member of Paris Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, and had served overseas in the First World War with the 125th Battalion.  Surviving besides his wife, the former Georgina May O’Connor are two sons, Harold of Simcoe and Gerald of Paris; two daughters, Mrs. Lyle (Eileen) Kitchen and Mrs. Reg. (Marieca) Franklin, both of Paris; one brother, Joseph of Detroit; one sister, Mrs. Ed. (Elizabeth) Renaud of Tampa, Fla.; 13 grandchildren.  A son, Alfred was killed in action at Dieppe.  Mr. Gibbons will be at the Bruce B. Smith Funeral Home from Friday evening for service Monday at Sacred Heart Church at 9 a.m.  Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
