Lt. A.W. Van Someren Reported Wounded

Official word was received in the city Saturday by his aunt, Miss Van Someren, St. Paul’s Avenue, that Lieutenant Alfred William Van Someren had been wounded in the recent fighting in France. The wounds were described as “multiple, in the head, legs and arm.”  Lieut. Van Someren left here with the 125th Battalion and was transferred some months ago to the firing line, joining a third division battalion. His father, Capt. Van Someren was paymaster of the 125th and was transferred to one of the units in France in February last in the capacity of paymaster. Mrs. Van Someren is at present in England.

VANSOMEREN, Alfred W.E. – With sorrow the family announces the passing in Hamilton, of Alfred William Eustace Van Someren on Thursday, November 18, 1976, beloved and loving husband of Jessie Crompton; devoted father of Mrs. K.R. VanWyck (June) of Hamilton; Mrs. P.C. Garratt (Sylvia) of Toronto and dear grandfather of Jan, Rob, Deb, Peter, Pam, Sue, Nancy and Philip; predeceased by his only sister Mrs. E.G. Whittaker (Esne).  Friends may call at the Swackhamer and Hills Funeral Home, 1341 Main Street West, Hamilton, on Friday from 2 to 9 p.m.  Service at Central Presbyterian Church, corner of Charlton and Caroline Street, on Saturday, November 20 at 11 a.m.  Cremation.  Replacing flowers, contributions to the Hamilton District County Boy Scouts of Canada or Chedoke Hospitals would be appreciated.  (John B.
