Alfred Wolstencroft

Alfred Wolstencroft, 72 of 257 Grand River Avenue, died today in the Brantford General Hospital.  He was born in Manchester, England, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Wolstencroft, and had resided in Brantford since 1907.  Mr. Wolstencroft was a textile worker with Slingsby Manufacturing Company for 47 years, retiring in 1955.  During the First World War he served overseas with the 125th Battalion. He was a life member of the 25 Year Club of the Royal Canadian Legion, formerly served as sergeant-major of the D and H Rifles, was a life member of the 56th Battery Sergeants Mess, and was a member of St. Paul’s Anglican Church. Surviving are his wife, the former Louise Long, a son, Alfred A. of Farmington, Mich.’ Two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Kite and Mrs. Mary Taylor both of Brantford; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.  Mr. Wolstencroft is at the Hill and Robinson Funeral Home until Wednesday at 3 p.m. then to St. Paul’s Church for service at 3.30 p.m.  Interment will be in the Soldiers’ Plot, Mount Hope Cemetery.
