Circumstances of Casualty: Killed in Action. Shortly after midday 29th September 1918, while leading his Company in the attack on the village of Sancourt, he was instantly killed by enemy shell fire.

Lieutenant Allen Gray Killed in Action

Mr. Reginald Gray of Burford was advised today by cable that his son, Lieutenant Allan Gray had been killed in action. Lieut. Gray was a well-known Burford young man who enlisted at Vancouver in the British Columbia Horse. He had been wounded and after convalescing, returned to the front. He was accountant in the Bank of Montreal at Vancouver when he enlisted. The news of his death was received with widespread regret in the Burford district.

Much sympathy is extended to Mr. and Mrs. R. Gray in the death of their son, Lieutenant Allan Gray, who was killed in action in France. He was a bright and sociable young man and had a host of friends here who learned of his death with profound regret.

The official casualty list today gives the name of Lieuenant Allen Gray of Burford, as being slightly wounded but back on duty again. He is a son of Mr. Reginald Gray, and is well known in this district.
