War Deaths of Brantford – Captain Allen Mackenzie Cleghorn Died of Pneumonia
Captain Allen M. Cleghorn of the C.A.M.C. attached to the 44th Battalion, and for the past five or six years a resident of Brantford, is dead in England following a severe case of pneumonia.
Early this morning a cablegram was received to the effect that he was seriously ill and a little later another cable came to his home at 20 Albion Street, stating that he had died. This morning’s casualty list intimated that he was ill.
About three months ago Dr. Cleghorn left for England to join the medical corps. He was born in London, Ont., and is a graduate of Toronto University and of Edinburgh, Scotland, university. He is a married man and leaves a widow and two young children, who with the deceased officer’s mother, reside at 20 Albion Street. He came here from Boston, where he was engaged in expert work in hospitals. For some years he travelled on the P. and O. boats running to the Orient. During his sojourn in Brantford he was prominent in different works.
He has one brother, Andrew, in Vancouver, and one sister, Mrs. A.A. Hughes, of this city. The cable this morning stated that the funeral would be on Wednesday from the new military hospital at Bramshott, where he was confined, and internment will be made there.

In this morning’s casualty list the official announcement of the death of Captain Allen Mackenzie Cleghorn appears. This death was made known here Monday through a cable to his mother.
