The funeral of Charles, the 3 year old son of Pte. A.C. Burley of the 125th Battalion, took place on Monday afternoon from his late residence, 268 Nelson Street, to Mt. Hope cemetery. The services were conducted by Rev. T.B. Jeakins of St. Jude’s church. Floral tributes were received from the following: Wreath, Daddy; sprays, Mrs. Mercer, Mr. and Mrs. Upstone, Miss Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Pettit, Mr. and Mrs. Venables, Mr. and Mrs. Kelly, Master Hugh Sloan, No. 2 Platoon, A. Company 125th Brant Battalion, C.E.F.; cradle roll, Marlborough Street Church, and Mr. and Mrs. Dinsmore.

BURLEY – In the Brantford General Hospital on Friday, December 18, 1970, Arthur C. Burley (veteran First World War with the 125th Battalion), in his 79th year; husband of Edith Girdlestone of 51 Lyons Avenue; father of Robert of Montreal, Mrs. George (Beverly) Lenaerts of London; Miss Bernice at home; brother of Mrs. Harry (Lily) Ward of Washington, D.C.; Mrs. Rose Bell of Lakeland, Florida; also 7 grandchildren. Resting at Hill and Robinson Limited, Funeral Home, Nelson and Queen Streets until Monday. Service in the chapel at 3:30 p.m. Interment Soldiers’ Plot, Mount Hope Cemetery, Rev. Arthur Tobey will officiate.
