Sergeant Arthur John Johnson Killed in Action – Was Soon to Go to England, There to be Married – A Sad Blow

Staff Sergeant Harry Carey of the 4th Battalion, writing to his wife, Mrs. H. Carey, 93 Erie Avenue, states that his chum, Arthur Johnson, had been killed. Sergeant Johnson, who formerly worked at Cockshutt’s with Sergt. Carey, was about to go to England on leave, where his sweetheart, of this city was to meet him, she having left some six weeks ago for the marriage ceremony. The news will undoubtedly strike her hard.
