Gunner Arthur Sidney Usher Undergoing Another Operation

Mrs. A. Usher, 183 Elgin Street, has received word that her husband, Gunner Arthur Sidney Usher, who was wounded last November and underwent an operation, is again to undergo another operation at Shorncliffe, Kent, England.

Arthur S. Usher, 74, of 191 Elgin Street, died Tuesday in Brantford.  Born in Doddington, Kent, England, he was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Usher, and came to Brantford 53 years ago.  Mr. Usher operated his own plastering business until his retirement in 1958.  He was a veteran of the First World War, serving overseas with the 13th Battery CFA until he was wounded and transferred to the Second Division of the 25th Battery CFA.  Mr. Usher was an adherent of the Anglican Church.  Surviving besides his wife, the former Harriet Sage, are two sons, Ernie and Norman, both of Brantford; two daughters, Mrs. Gordon (Elsie) Harrington, of London, Ont., and Mrs. Robert (Dorothy) Redpath of Brantford; six sisters, Mrs. Alfred (Hilda) Sedge, Mrs. Jack (Annie) Deverson, Mrs. Thomas (Beatrice) Mills, Mrs. Albert (Nellie) Hadlow, Mrs. Jack (Eileen) Tunncliffe, and Mrs. Sidney (Harriet) Davies, all of England; one brother, James Usher, of England; 13 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.  Mr. Usher is at the Hill and Robinson Funeral Home for service Friday at 3.30 p.m.  Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.  Rev. C.V. Tomkins will officiate.
