Lieut. Charles Benett on Wounded List – Was Promoted from Machine Gun Squad, Joining the R.H.A.

Montreal, Nov. 14 – News was received at McGill University today that Second Lieutenant Charles Morgan Benett, a member of the class of science of ’14 before he enlisted, has been wounded in the knee and is now convalescing on the Isle of Wight. His home is at Brantford, Ontario and previous to coming to McGill attended the collegiate institute of that city. At McGill he was a member of the champion McGill rifle team of 1914, and also of the champion inter-faculty rifle team of that year. He enlisted as a private with the machine gun section of the First University Company of reinforcements to the Princess Patricia’s and served in France for some time before he was transferred to the Royal Horse Artillery with the rank of second lieutenant.

Lieutenant Charles M. Bennett, Brantford, overseas with the Royal Artillery, is today reported wounded for the second time. When he enlisted he was going to McGill and enlisted at Montreal with the P.P.C.L.I. He was first wounded in November 1916.
