Charles Albert Burtenshaw

The death occurred on Monday at the Hamilton General Hospital of Mr. Charles Albert Burtenshaw, in his 74th year.  Mr. Burtenshaw was born in England and with the exception of eight years living at Napanee and Vineland had been a lifelong resident of Brantford.  During the war 1914-1918, he served with the 84th Battalion. He was a member of the Canadian Legion Branch No. 90.  Mrs. Burtenshaw passed away three years ago.  Surviving are: Two stepdaughters, Mrs. William Hill, Vineland, and Mrs. U. McGee, Outer Station, Kingston; one sister, Miss Charlotte Burtenshaw, Brantford.  Mr. Burtenshaw is resting at Thorpe Brothers’ Funeral Home, where the service will be conducted on Wednesday afternoon.  Interment will be made in the Soldiers’ Plot, Mount Hope Cemetery.

The funeral service for Charles Albert Burtenshaw, Vineland, and formerly of Brantford, was conducted Wednesday afternoon from Thorpe Brothers’ Funeral Home, Rev. F.W. Schaffter, rector of St. Jude’s Anglican Church and chaplain of Branch 90 Canadian Legion, officiated.  The pallbearers, all Legionnaires, were S. King, J. Turner, J.H. Turner, J. Lune, W. Durrant, W.B. Thompson, and D. Monkman, who was in charge. Interment was in the Soldiers’ Plot, Mount Hope Cemetery.
