C.J. Newton

Mr. Charles John Newton, passed away on Sunday at his residence, 48 Curtis Street. Deceased who was in his 52nd year, was a returned soldier, having been a member of the 84th Battalion and was overseas for some 18 months. It was during his services on behalf of the Empire that his health became impaired. Deceased was born in England and came to Canada 11 years ago, residing in Brantford ever since. He was a much esteemed member of the G.W.V.A. He leaves to mourn his loss a sorrowing widow and five children, all at home. The funeral will take place on Tuesday at 2 o’clock to Mt. Hope Cemetery.

To the Grave

The funeral of Charles J. Newton was held yesterday afternoon from his residence to Mount Hope Cemetery. Rev. R.M.P. Bulteel conducted the services. Mr. Newton was a former service man and interment was made in the returned soldiers’ plot. A large number of friends were present and many floral tributes were in evidence. The bearers were: Thomas Henwood, Edward Dyer, William Mizon, William Card, William Jarvis and Mr. Miller.
