BX January 11, 1966

Charles Venables, 79 of 7 Alfred Street, died Monday in the Brantford general Hospital. He was born in Salsford, England, and had been a resident of Brantford for many years.  Mr. Venables was a life member of Ozias Masonic Lodge, No. 508, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 90, had played in the Canadian Legion Band, a member of St. Jude’s Church, and during the First World War served with the 125th Battalion in the band.  He was a retired supervisor of Dominion Natural Gas Company where he had been employed for over 50 years.  Surviving are one son, John Venables of Corinth, N.Y; one grandson; four great-grandchildren.  His wife the former Jane Mercer, died in 1950.  Mr. Venables is at the Beckett Funeral Home for service Thursday at 3 p.m.  Interment will be in Farringdon Burial Ground.  Rev. R.A.E. Ruch of St. Jude’s Anglican Church will officiate.
