Cause and Place of Death: Died of Wounds. No. 22 General Hospital, Camiers

Private Charles Webster, for a numbers of years an employee at the Penman Mills in Paris, but who enlisted at Brandon, Manitoba with the 79th Battalion, is today reported dead from wounds received September 10. Word was received in the city by Mrs. Louis F. Perry, 14 Melrose Avenue, from the deceased hero’s mother, Mrs. J.W. Thorpe, of Elgin, Man. Shortly after getting overseas Private Webster was transferred to the 16th Scottish Canadians and has been in the trenches for six or seven months. Private Webster was a brother of Mrs. L.F. Perry, and a brother of George Webster, 84th Battalion, who formerly resided at 97 Lyons Avenue. Another brother in khaki is Gunner Alex Webster, 54th Battery, who formerly resided at 340 St. Paul’s Avenue and previous to enlistment was an operator at the Colonial Theatre.
