Private Clarence Roy Anderson Reported Missing – Was Member of 84th Battalion – Formerly Worked at Hurley’s

Another Brantford boy, Scout Clarence R. Anderson, is reported missing this morning. He was a member of the 84th Battalion and was on reaching England, drafted to another battalion. Before enlisting, he was employed as a printer by the Hurley Printing Company. The word that he was missing was received by his mother, Mrs. William Anderson, 119 Eagle Ave. He was 19 years of age and single.

BX April 24, 1917

Mrs. William Anderson, 119 Eagle Avenue, has received official notification that her son, Clarence Anderson, previously reported wounded on Nov. 18 last has been killed in action. Private Anderson enlisted with the 84th Battalion. Prior to his enlistment, he was an employee of the Hurley Printing Company.

Today’s casualty list gives Pte. Clarence Roy Anderson of Brantford as having been killed in action. This is thought to refer to Clarence Anderson, formerly of 119 Eagle Avenue. He is a single man and went overseas with a draft from the Dragoons in August 1915.
