Clarence Ross Betts
Clarence Ross Betts, former resident of this City, died suddenly in Detroit Tuesday. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Albert William Betts, who also resided here. Clare Betts as he was popularly known was during his residence here well known in sport and was a boxer of note who will be remembered by many who followed that sport. He was a veteran of the First Great War, serving with the 19th Battalion. Harry Betts and Mrs. W.O. Walt of this City are brother sister of the deceased. Other surviving relatives include his widow, the former Alice Wooden, Paris, Ont., one son, Frank and one daughter, Mrs. Rollin Wilson, all of Detroit; four grandsons; two brothers, Vernon, Detroit, and Roy, Edmonton, and two sisters, Eva, Detroit, and Mrs. E.J. Berry, Hamilton. Funeral services will be held at his residence, 1333 Twenty-fourth Street, Detroit, Thursday afternoon. Interment will be in Detroit.
