BX August 6, 1918

Mrs. Dempster, 51 William Street, has received official notification from the Air Minister in London that her son, Second Flight Lieutenant Duncan Ferguson Dempster, has been seriously injured in a flying accident in England. The young man was well known to many Brantford friends who will be very sorry to learn of the accident. Mrs. Dempster has asked for further particulars of her son’s condition and is anxiously awaiting further word.

Is Doing Well

Mr. Fred Frank today received a letter from Lieutenant Duncan Ferguson Dempster who was recently injured in an aeroplane wreck in England. Lieutenant Dempster had his leg broken in three places and fooled the doctors, who were not at first hopeful of his recovery. He is now doing well.

Brantford Businessman Dies at BGH

Duncan F. Dempster of 14 Westmount Boulevard, Brantford furrier, died this morning at the Brantford General Hospital.

Son of Mr. and Mrs. Duncan Ferguson Dempster, he was born here in 1897.  On graduation from the Brantford Collegiate he joined the Bank of British North America.

During the First World War he served with the Royal Flying Corps.  On return to civilian life he became manager of Dempster’s Ltd., founded in 1876 by an uncle, George Dempster.

Mr. Dempster was an active member of Grace Anglican Church and a past president of Brantford Shriner's Club.  He was a life member of Ozias Lodge and a member of Mocha Temple, London.

He is survived by his wife, the  former Helen M. Logie; one daughter Mrs. Emerson (Jenne) McKinney of Brampton; one son, Duncan Logie of Montreal; five grandchildren’ two brothers, William E. of New York City and George M. of Brantford; and two sisters, Mrs. R.V. (Barbara) Woffindin of Brantford and Mrs. G.A. (Frances) King of Brantford.

Mr. Dempster will be at Beckett Funeral Home from Monday noon for service Tuesday at Grace Anglican Church at 3:30 p.m.  Interment will be in Farringdon Burial Ground.
