Edward Arthur Baulcomb

The death took place in Westminister Hospital, London, Wednesday afternoon of Edward Arthur Baulcomb, formerly of this City.  He was fifty-seven years old.  The late Mr. Baulcomb was born in England.  In the First Great War, he enlisted with the Fourth Battalion and served with it overseas.  On his return to Brantford he was employed for a time on the street railway, later going to Chatham, where he worked in the Post Office for twenty-five years.  Mr. Baulcomb was a member of the Canadian Legion, Chatham.  He leaves to mourn his loss, besides his widow, two sons, Douglas Arthur Baulcomb, R.C.A.F., Aylmer; Gordon Edward Baulcomb, R.C.A.F., Brandon, Manitoba; five daughters, Mrs. H. Legacy, Brantford; Mrs. S. Smith, Wallaceburg; Joyce, Marjorie and Ettie Lou, Wallaceburg; one brother, Charles Baulcomb, England; two sisters, Mrs. C. Maskwick, England, and Mrs. Thomas Kirton, Brantford.  Mr. Baulcomb is resting at the Beckett Funeral Home here until Saturday afternoon, when the funeral service will be held.  Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

BX April 12, 1943

The funeral service for Edward Baulcomb was conducted at the Beckett Funeral Home, Saturday afternoon.  Ven. Archdeacon A.L. G. Clarke officiated at the service. Mr. Baulcomb was buried with military honors.  Bugler W.H. Hopper sounded the Last Post and Reveille at the grave.  The pallbearers were: E.R. Edwards, Don McKellar and F. Wright, representing the 4th Battalion Association, and F. Balsom, H. Twidale and A. Mattice, representing the Canadian Legion.  There were representatives from the Postal Department, Chatham, as well as friends and relatives.  Interment was in the Soldiers’ Plot, Mount Hope Cemetery.
