Circumstances of Casualty: Killed in Action. Was in charge of a Lewis gun section during military operations West of Sancourt, and while bringing his gun into action he was instantly killed by enemy machine gun bullets penetrating his head.

Reported Wounded

This morning’s casualty list contains the names of four Brantford men – D.E. Stewart, W.G. Allison, E. Groat, H. Fisher – all reported wounded. Private Groat went overseas with the Haldimand County Battalion. Private Allison is a Burford boy, a painter by trade and he went overseas with the first overseas Battalion from the 38th Dufferin Rifles.
