Is Recovering

Mrs. William Foster, Foster Street, yesterday received a letter from a nurse in the isolation hospital in France where her son, Private Ellwood Gordon Foster, has been confined for some weeks with diphtheria, stating that he was doing well and was on the road to recovery. Pte. Foster was with the 125th Battalion when he left Canada and was drafted to France. He was taken from the trenches on February 4 with an attack of diphtheria. His many friends will indeed be glad to know that he is recovering.

Cheery News

Mr. and Mrs. William Foster, 24 Foster Street, have received a letter dated September 3 from their son Private Ellwood Gordon Foster who was wounded on August 30. He sends the cheery news that the bullet was taken out of his hip and that he is getting on fine. He expected to be removed to the base hospital the day he wrote, but his temperature had gone up. He hopes to go to “Blighty” soon.
