Sergeant Winyard Will Return

Mr. J.H. Spence, president of the Brantford branch of the Canadian Patriotic Fund Association has received a telegram from Lieut.-Col. M.E.B. Cutcliffe, O.C. the 125th Battalion stating that he was arranging for the discharge of Sergeant Ernest John Winyard of his battalion, to permit of his returning to look after his family.

It will be remembered that Mrs. Winyard, wife of Sergeant Winyard passed away suddenly on Jan. 9 last, leaving behind five small children, without a relative in Canada. Mrs. Margaret Prior, 222 Market Street, although she has a large family of her own to care for, has since been looking after the little ones.

Communication was immediately established by the local authorities with Col. Cutcliffe to have Sergt. Winyard permitted to return, and this has been granted. Yesterday a kindly offer was made by a Waterford father and mother to look after one of the little tots.
