Frank Wilkes

Frank Wilkes, 81 of 187 Elgin Street, died this morning in the Brantford General Hospital.  Born in Chester, England, he had been a resident of Brantford for 43 years.  During the First World War he served overseas for four years with the 125th Battalion, C.E.F.  He was a member of the Canadian Legion.  He was also a member of Grace Anglican Church.  Surviving, besides his widow, formerly Hettie Briggs, are one son, Harry of Brantford; one daughter, Mrs. George (Florence) Potter, of Toronto; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  Mr. Wilkes is resting at Beckett Funeral Home, where the service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m.  Interment will be in the Soldiers’ Plot in Mount Hope Cemetery.

The funeral service for Frank Wilkes, 187 Elgin Street, was conducted Saturday at Beckett Funeral Home.  Rev. C.V. Tompkins, St. Luke’s Anglican Church officiated.  Pallbearers were Comrades David Monkman and Robert Varey, both of Branch 90, Canadian Legion, Leonard Sage, Harry Wilkes jr., Robert Kyle, and Leslie Russell.  Interment was in the Soldiers’ Plot, Mount Hope Cemetery.
