Lost Life on Hampshire

To an unoccupied box in the local post office has come the official notice of the loss of George Bates, acting leading stoker on H.M.S. Hampshire, which was recently sunk in the North Sea. The notice comes to Miss Clara Bates, P.O. Box 252, Brantford, his sister, but no trace of Miss Bates can be found. At present, according to post office officials, the box is un-rented and has been vacant for a long time past.

Was from Brampton

Mention was made in The Expositor yesterday of the official notice of the loss of George Bates, stoker on H.M.S. Hampshire, coming to a vacant box in the local post office, it has since been discovered that an error was made in the addressing of the card, which should have read Brampton instead of Brantford.  The card has been forwarded to Brampton by the post office authorities.
