George Henry Morris

George Henry Morris, husband of Mary Olive Scott Morris, 107 Park Avenue, died this morning at the Brantford General Hospital, in his 79th year.  He was born in Brant County, the son of the late Peter Morris and Melissa Karns, and had been a life-long resident of Brantford and district.  Prior to his retirement three years ago, he had been employed with the Cockshutt Farm Equipment Ltd. For 25 years.  During the First World War, he served overseas for four years with the 125th Battalion from Brantford, and was a member of the Telephone City Branch of the Canadian Legion.  In his youth, Mr. Morris was actively interested in sports and was an enthusiast of soccer and lacrosse.  He is survived by his widow; one daughter, Mrs. Irene Snider, Toronto; one son, Lorne Cecil Morris, Brantford, and two sisters, Mrs. Albert Malcolm, Saskatoon, Sask., and Mrs. Reginald Malcolm, Biggar, Sask.  He is resting at Thorpe Brothers’ Funeral Home where service will be conducted Monday at 2 p.m.  Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

George Henry Morris

A large number of friends, relatives and representatives from the Telephone city Branch of the Canadian Legion attended the funeral of George Henry Morris, husband of Mary Olive Scott Morris, 107 Park Avenue, conducted Monday afternoon from Thorpe Brothers’ Funeral Home.  Rev. Canon F.W. Schaffter of St. Jude’s Anglican Church officiated.  The pallbearers, members of the Telephone City branch were D. Monkman, H.T. Rogers, T. Barr A. Brewster, B. Scott and B. Stuart.  E.R. Edwards was in charge of the Legion group.  Interment was in the Soldiers’ Plot in Mount Hope Cemetery.
