Letters and documents

BX August 21, 1918

The same messenger handed a telegram to Mr. Drury and to his next neighbor at work, Mr. Edwin Silley, each of them hearing of the wounding of his son. Private Henry Lionel Silley has been hit in the right arm. His brother Herbert is fighting in the Grand Fleet and five of his cousins are in the Imperial army. His parents live at 52 ½ Brock Street, and when he enlisted for overseas he was a student at the Business College. It was on August 9th that he was wounded.
