Harry Venting
The death occurred Sunday at the Brantford General Hospital of Harry Venting, husband of Edith M. Stephens, 20 Jarvis Street. Mr. Venting was born at Wellington, Somerset, England, 64 years ago, coming to Canada in 1912, he has been a resident of Brantford for the past 38 years. He worked at textile mills in Woodstock, Bullock Corners and Slingsby’s here. He retired in November, 1953. As a young man he served in the Imperial Army with the Somerset Light Infantry, and during the First World War, he served with the 215th Battalion, C.E.F. He was a member of the Ex-Imperials Club and of the Central Baptist Church. Surviving besides his widow are one daughter, Mrs. Percy (Gwen) Willis, two granddaughters, all of the City, one brother, Robert, England; two sisters, Mrs. Emily Wyatt, England, and Mrs. F. Hurse, Woodstock. Mr. Venting is resting at the Beckett Funeral Home, where funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday at 2 p.m. Interment will be in the soldiers’ plot at Mount Hope Cemetery.

Harry Venting
Rev. D.A. Loveday, pastor of Central Baptist Church conducted the funeral service Wednesday afternoon at the Beckett Funeral Home for Harry Venting, husband of Mrs. Edith M. Venting, 20 Jarvis Street. In addition to floral tributes, a number of Gideon Bibles were dedicated. Mrs. William Gaul sang “In the Garden,” accompanied by Mrs. W.H. Crozier. The pallbearer’s were Gordon Ross, Hugh Jeffers, Thomas Stephens, Harris Smith, George Curtis and William Bremner. Interment was in the Soldiers’ Plot, Mount Hope Cemetery.
