Herbert Fisher

Herbert Fisher, 94 Oakhill drive, formerly of Talbot Street died Saturday at Sunnybrook Hospital, Toronto, in his 82nd year.  He was born in Brantford, resided here all his life, and was a bricklayer by trade.  He was a charter member and past president of the Bricklayers and Masons International Union of America, Local No. 9 receiving his gold card in 1949, a charter member of the Brantford Gun Club, and a member of the Canadian Legion, Telephone City Branch, Post 90.  He was a veteran of the First World War, having enlisted here as a bandsman with the 125th Battalion and later transferring overseas to the 8th Battalion brass band and serving three years.  He was a sports enthusiast, playing lacrosse and baseball in his younger years, and played in numerous bands.  Surviving Mr. Fisher are four sons, Gordon and Percy, of Brantford, Reginald, of Fruitland, and Ernest, of Detroit; one daughter, Mrs. Tom (Marjorie Knudsen, Detroit; one sister, Miss Clara Fisher, RN of Brantford; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.  His wife, the former Caroline Sloan, died in 1952.  Mr. Fisher is resting at the Hill and Robinson Funeral Home until Tuesday, when the service will be conducted at 3 p.m. in the chapel.  Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.

Herbert Fisher

The funeral of Herbert Fisher was conducted Tuesday afternoon at the Hill and Robinson Chapel, with Rev. Dr. G. Deane Johnston of Central Presbyterian Church officiating.  There was a gathering of relatives and friends from the city and outside points, and there were floral tributes.  The pallbearers were Harry Williamson, William Garnett, Norman Carswell, Gordon Blacker, William Bowden and Charles Venables.  Interment was in Mount Hope Cemetery.
