Was Wounded For Second Time – Pte. Wray Rowley Now in Cardiff Hospital for Treatment

Word was received yesterday that Pte. Herbert Wray Rowley of the 98th Battalion on January 4 was buried by a shell and suffering from shock and other internal injuries, was transferred from the base hospital, France on Feb. 17 to No. 3 Western General Hospital, Cardiff, South Wales for further treatment. This is the second time he has been wounded and returned to England since his unit went overseas in July last. His parents reside on Mohawk Road.

Private Herbert Wray Rowley of the 98th Battalion and a Brantford man, who won the Military Medal for bravery on the field on January 8, 1917 and who two days later won the D.C.M. for saving a wounded soldier’s life is but 17 years of age and was wounded with a bayonet thrust in the groin and is soon to return home. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rowley, reside on Mohawk Road.

On Way Home

Two Brantford soldiers are due home this week, having arrived at an Atlantic port. They are Herbert Rowley, Tutela P.O., and Vernon Duxbury, 149 Chestnut Avenue. The latter is listed among the amputation cases.
