In the casualty list issued from Ottawa today, Ivan Brazil, Eagle’s Nest, Brantford, is reported among the wounded, and Frank Chester Reed of Grand View is reported as having been gassed.

Ivan Brazil 

Ivan Brazil, of 218 Brant Avenue, died Wednesday at the Brantford General Hospital in his 66th year.  He was born in Brantford the son of the late William Brazil and Annie Porter Brazil and was a lifelong resident of this city.  He was a well-known businessman in Brantford for 35 years as proprietor of Brazil’s Grocery and Meat Store.  During the First World War, he served overseas with the 125th Battalion and was a member of the Telephone City Branch 90 of the Canadian Legion.  Mr. Brazil was an adherent of the Anglican Church.  Surviving are Mrs. Brazil, the former Mary Cooper and one son, William F. of Brantford, two daughters, Mrs. John (Margaret) Dutton of Brantford and Mrs. Cameron (Ruth) Wallace of Winnipeg; 12 grandchildren.  Mr. Brazil is resting at Thorpe Brothers’ Funeral Home for service Saturday at 2 p.m.  Interment will be in Farringdon Burial Ground.  Rev. T.D. Painting, of Holy Trinity Anglican Church will officiate.
