Circumstances of Casualty: Killed in Action. While taking part in an attack near Upton Wood, North of Hendecourt-lez-Cagincourt, he was hit in the heart by an enemy bullet – death being instantaneous.

The flag at Council House was floating at half mast in token of respect to the late Private Jacob Isaac, 739554, who died in action. He went with the 114th Battalion. He is the brother of the late Cyrus Isaac, who was killed in Brantford this spring. He leaves his father and one sister, Mrs. George Garlow.

A memorial service in honor of the late Jacob Isaac, who was killed in action, was held at Stone Ridge Methodist Church Sunday last, by James Andrew with the assistance of Rev. Thomas Whitebeans.

The Indian department of Brantford received official notification from Ottawa this morning that Albert Mt. Pleasant and Jacob Isaac have been wounded at the front, the latter seriously.
