J.B. Appleby Dies in Paris

PARIS – James B. Appleby, 69, of Grand River Street, died in Willett Hospital.  He was born in Paris where he lived all his life.

Mr. Appleby conducted a General Insurance office in Paris, and was a member of the Paris Canadian Legion, St. John’s Masonic Lodge, the Ontario Insurance Agents Association and a member of the board of health and former clerk of Division Court.

He was also a chartered member of the Paris Lions Club and a member of St. Paul’s United Church.  Mr. Appleby served in the First World War.

Surviving are his wife, the former Margaret Anderson; a daughter, Mrs. Norman (Katheryn) Ham of Brookline, Massachusetts a sister, Mrs. Helen Whitham of Paris; four grandchildren.  Mr. Appleby was predeceased by a brother, William, and a sister, Kathleen.  Funeral service will be held Wednesday at the Bruce B. Smith Funeral Home at 2 p.m.  Interment will be in Paris Cemetery.  Rev. A.T. Denholm will officiate.
