Circumstances of Casualty: Died of Wounds. While acting as a guide to his Company on the night of August 31st in 1918, in the village of Cherisy, he was wounded in the lower jaw, left leg and abdomen by a shell. After being attended to, he was evacuated to a Field Ambulance and later to No. 42 Casualty Clearing Station where he succumbed to his wounds two days later.
