DURSTON – Suddenly in Brantford on Wednesday, August 3, 1938.  James Frederick Durston, aged 50 years.  The late Mr. Durston is resting at Beckett Funeral Home.  Private Service at 2 p.m., Saturday, August 6.  Public service St. Luke’s Anglican Church, 2:30 p.m.   Interment in the Soldiers’ Plot Mount Hope Cemetery.

James Frederick Durston

The Funeral of James Frederick Durston was conducted on Sunday afternoon from Beckett’s Funeral Home, where a private service, was held to St. Luke’s Anglican Church for a public service, with interment being made in the Soldiers’ Plot at Mount Hope Cemetery.  Rev. R.W. Lane was in charge of the private service and at the public service was assisted by Rev. T.A. Madden.  At the church, Jack Chadwick sang a solo.  The choir was in full attendance at the church and at the graveside the boys’ choir sang a number.  Bugler Jack Frost sounded the Last Post and Reveille at the graveside.  Many flowers paid silent tribute to the deceased.  Members of the local branch of the Canadian Legion were in attendance at the funeral.  The pallbearers were G. Oxley, J. Elphick and W. Gunn, from Massey-Harris, and P. Newton, H.R. Mann and T. Rose from St. Luke’s Church.
