BX February 12, 1957

John Crowley

John Crowley, R4 Brantford, died Tuesday in his 83rd year.  He was born in London, England and lived in Brantford for 50 years. He operated a carpentering business until his retirement in 1942.  He was a veteran of the First World War with overseas service. He left Brantford with the 125th Battalion, as a sergeant musketry instructor.  He attended Bethel Chapel. Surviving besides his widow, the former Edith Crafts, are one daughter, Mrs. Leonard L. (Sarah) Pizzey, Brantford; two brothers, Fred, Montreal, and Stanley, Detroit, Mich.; one sister, Mrs. Ethel Herbert, Sarasota, Florida; five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.  Mr. Crowley is resting at the Hill and Robinson Funeral Home until Saturday for service in the chapel at 2 p.m.  Interment will be in the Soldiers’ Plot at Mount Hope Cemetery.

John Crowley

The funeral of John Crowley was conducted Saturday afternoon at the Hill and Robinson Chapel, with Andrew Reyburn of Bethel Chapel officiating.  Many Relatives and friends attended and there was a representation of the 125th Battalion Association. Pallbearers were Marshall Pizzey, Robert Pizzey, John Pizzey, Donald Friest, Charles Maxted and Howard Leslie, all grandsons of Mr. Crowley.  At the graveside Fred Nicholas sounded Last Post and Reveille.  Interment was in the Soldiers’ Plot in Mount Hope Cemetery.
