Corporal John Evans of Brantford is reported today as having been killed in action while at the front with the 4th Battalion. Although an Englishman by birth, Evans has resided here for a number of years and was well known. He boarded at the Sabden house on Sheridan Street. He was about 32 years of age and unmarried. His parents reside in England. Evans had been at the front for about two years. Prior to enlisting, he worked in the packing room of the Massey-Harris Company.

The name of Corporal John Evans, of Wolverhampton, England, appeared in the official casualty list issued yesterday. This refers to Cpl. John Evans who resided with Mrs. James Norwood, 7 Sheridan Street, and an employee of the Massey-Harris company for the past seven years. He is a very steady, quiet young man, with a host of friends in the city. There are no relatives here, his people residing at Wolverhampton, a brother having already been killed in action at the front. He is a member of Grace Anglican Church.
