Gunner John Housson William Tooze has been admitted to the Canadian general hospital at Le Treport, France having been gassed. He was a member of the 54th Battery of this city having left with Capt. W.T. Henderson.

Jack H. Tooze

The death of Jack H. Tooze formerly of Brantford, husband of Mary McDonald, occurred Friday at his home, 109 Pacific Avenue, Toronto.  Mr. Tooze was an active member of the Canadian Legion, Branch 90 while in Brantford and served overseas with the 54th Battery during the First Word War. He was employed as office manager here with the Standard Sanitary and Dominion Radiator Company.  Surviving besides his widow, are three sons, John D. Tooze, Jack Darwen and William Darwen and two daughters, Mrs. Shirley McLaughlin and Mrs. Helen Ames.  Mr. Tooze is resting at the York Brothers’ Chapel, 2357 Bloor Street West, Toronto, where service will be held Monday at 3.30 p.m.  Interment will be in the Park Lawn Cemetery, Toronto.
