BX August 30, 1918

Private John Walsworth, 28 Wallace Street, has been wounded. Mrs. Walsworth received word yesterday that her husband had been admitted to No. 10 General hospital, Rouen, France suffering from a gunshot wound in the scalp. Pte. Walsworth left Brantford with the 215th Battalion, but was later drafted to the 38th before going to France.

John Arthur Walsworth, 45 Gordon Street passed away at the Brantford General Hospital Tuesday morning after four days illness.  Mr. Walsworth was born in England and has been a resident of this City for the past thirty-two years.  He served during the Great War leaving Brantford with the 215th Battalion and being with the 38th Ottawa’s in France.  Mr. Walsworth was a member of St. Jude’s Anglican Church.  Besides his widow he leaves two sons, Harold and Arthur and a daughter Kathleen, all at home.  The deceased will rest at Reid and Brown’s slumber room until Thursday when the service will be held in the Chapel in the afternoon.  Interment will be in the Soldiers’ Plot in Mount Hope Cemetery.

John A. Walsworth

A large gathering of friends attended the funeral of John A. Walsworth at Reid and Brown’s Funeral Chapel Thursday afternoon.  Rev. F.W. Schaffter, Rector of St. Jude’s Anglican Church, was in charge of the service. Beautiful floral tributes marked the high esteem in which the deceased was held.  The pallbearers were E. Edwards, W. Brown, W. Hall, J.O. Cooke, R. Clarke, T. Edwards, W. Bingham, and G. Deane, members of the Canadian Legion.  The Last Post was sounded by Bugler P. Gillingwater. Interment was in the Soldiers’ Plot, Mount Hope Cemetery.
