Joseph J. Archer

Joseph James Archer, 86, of 5 Spring Street, died Monday in the Brantford General Hospital.  He was born in Waltham, Abbey, England, and came to Canada in 1905 and to Brantford in 1909.  Mr. Archer was a member of the Dufferin Rifles, a veteran of the First World War, serving with the 125th Battalion CEF.  In his younger years he was active in sports and was a member of the Telephone City Pigeon Club.  Mr. Archer was a member of the Church of England.  Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ellis (Ivy) Young, Mrs. Clarence (Florence) Pickering; two sons, Frederick Archer and Joseph Archer, all of Brantford; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grand-children.  His wife, the former Rose Emma Ellis, died in 1955. Mr. Archer is at the Beckett Funeral Home for service Thursday at 2 p.m.  Rev. E.A. Horner of St. Paul’s Anglican Church will officiate.  Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
