Joseph Atfield

The death took place Sunday morning at the Brantford General Hospital of Joseph Atfield, 11 Grey Street, in his 53rd year.  Mr. Atfield was born in Brantford, the son of Catharine Redman and the late William Atfield.  He had resided in this city all his life, and was employed at the Brantford Coach and Body Company, Ltd.  He was a veteran of the First Great War and was a member of St. Basil’s Church.  Left to mourn his loss are his mother, Mrs. Catharine Atfield, City and three sisters, Mrs. George Hurst, Hamilton; Mrs. H.B. Near, Jerseyville, and Laureen Atfield, City and two brothers, Frank Atfield and Edward Atfield, both of Brantford.  Mr. Atfield is resting at Thorpe Brothers’ Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be conducted Tuesday morning in St. Basil’s Church, where requiem mass will be sung.  Interment in the Soldiers’ Plot, St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Joseph Atfield

The funeral of Joseph Atfield, 11 Grey Street, was conducted Tuesday morning from Thorpe Brothers’ Funeral Home to St. Basil’s Church, where Monsignor T.L. Ferguson sang requiem high mass.  The pallbearers were Robert Cribbes, Earl Ryder, Charley Radi, Lorne Trembley, Bert Rose and John Rowland.  Interment took place in the Soldiers’ Plot, St. Joseph’s Cemetery.  Rev. Father V.J. Pickett officiated at the graveside.  Bugler Pte. J.R. Faulkner No. 5 L.T.B.C., sounded the Last Post.
