Joseph Gilbert Finch

Gilbert (Bert) Finch, formerly of Brantford, died yesterday at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Toronto.  Born in England, Mr. Finch had resided in Brantford most of his life.  He was a member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church and the Ex-Imperials Association.  Prior to his retirement five years ago, Mr. Finch had been with Koehring Waterous Limited for 35 years.  A veteran of the First World War, he served with the Royal Artillery in Italy, France, Egypt and Salonica.  Surviving are Mrs. Finch, the former Maud Cooper Finch; a daughter, Mrs. Harold (Margaret) Dennis of London; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Potter of Brantford; four sisters, Mrs. Letitia Costen of Brantford, Mrs. A. (Nance) Binks of London, Mrs. K. (Kit) Shackell of Detroit, Mich., and Mrs. R. (Vie) Paisley of Halifax, N.S.; two grandchildren. Mr. Finch is resting at Thorpe Brothers’ Funeral Home for service Friday at 2 p.m.  Rev. C.S. Inder will officiate. Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
