Joseph Frederick Singleton

Joseph F. Singleton of 210 Durham Street, died Sunday in Sunnybrook Hospital, Toronto, in his 87th year.  Born in London, England, he was a resident of Brantford for 49 years.  A veteran of the First World War, he enlisted with the 215th Battalion, was transferred to the 125th Battalion and served overseas.  Mr. Singleton was a member of Marlboro United Church, and the Telephone City Branch of the Canadian Legion.  Surviving are two sons, Albert of Windsor, Alfred F. of Brantford; two daughters, Mrs. William (Lillian) Allen, Mrs. Elizabeth Sharpe, both of Brantford; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.  His wife, the former Elizabeth LeConte, predeceased him in 1933, and a son, George five years ago. Mr. Singleton is resting at the Hill and Robinson Funeral Home until Wednesday for service in the chapel at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Farringdon Burial Ground.  Rev. D.E. Tansley, of Marlboro United Church, will officiate.
