BX October 18, 1916

Another Brant County boy killed in action was the word received in the city at noon today. Private Lavern Coultous, of St. George is the latest Brant boy to pay the supreme price of war. He was with the Princess Patricia’s Light Infantry at the front, but enlisted in Medicine Hat with the 13th Mounted Rifles. He was a former employee of the Bank of Commerce here.

In yesterday’s casualties the name of Private Lavern Coultous, of St. George, was given as having been killed in action. This name should have been Coutis, and he was wounded by a gunshot in the face. His condition is not thought to be serious.

BX March 26, 1942

Charles LaVern Coultous

The death occurred Wednesday in Winnipeg of Charles LaVerne Coultous, ion his forty-eighth year.  Deceased was born in St. George, but had resided in Winnipeg for many years.  Mr. Coultous was a veteran of the last Great War, having served overseas with the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry Regiment.  He leaves to mourn his loss his mother, Mrs. Frank Coultous, St. George; one sister, Mrs. Meller, and one brother, Frank Coultous, both in Buffalo.  Funeral arrangements have not yet been completed.

COULTOUS – In Winnipeg, Manitoba, on Wednesday, March 25, Charles LaVern Coultous, beloved son of Mrs. Frank Coultous, St. George, and dear brother of Frank Coultous, Jr., Buffalo, and Mrs. J. Mellor, Buffalo, in his 48th year.  Funeral will be on Monday, March 30 from the family residence, St. George, at 2 p.m. with interment in St. George United Cemetery.
