Leonard Cooper

Leonard Cooper, 64 of 8 St. Paul Avenue, died suddenly in Civic Hospital, Ottawa on Tuesday while on Vacation.  Born in England, he had been a resident of Brantford for the past 50 years.  He was a spinner by trade and was an employee of Slingsby Manufacturing Co. for about 30 years.  When the company discontinued operation here, Mr. Cooper took employment with the Kitchen Overall Col.  He served during the First World War in Canada and was a member of Riverdale Baptist Church.  Mr. Cooper was a former member of the Board of Deacons and was a former choir master of the church.  Surviving besides Mrs. Cooper, the former Florence Hayes are one son, Harvey of Brantford; a daughter-in-law, of Brantford, Irene; a daughter, Mrs. Clarence (Helen) Keen, of Brantford; three brothers, Arthur of Carleton Place, Roy of Hamilton, and Leslie in Western Canada; two grandchildren.  Two sisters predeceased him.  Mr. Cooper is resting at the Hill and Robinson Funeral Home until Saturday for service in the chapel at 2 p.m.  Interment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.  Rev. Elmore young will officiate.
