Presumed Dead

Harvey White, 191 ½ King Street west Hamilton, has received word that his brother, Private Major Beverley White, who was reported missing on Sept. 18, was now, for official purposes, presumed to have died and the name of the young soldier has been struck off the list. Private White was lost in the Courcelette fighting and since then many enquiries have been made, but no trace has been found of him. He enlisted with the 58th Battalion, and went overseas on November 22 1915, being sent to the front a few months later. He was 31 years of age and prior to his joining the colours he was employed in Brantford by the Cockshutt Plow Company. He was a nephew of George Adams of Hamilton, the well-known runner, who for some time held the Canadian 10 mile record. The parents reside in Brantford.
